The National Accreditation Body Conducted an Additional Periodic Assessment of the Testing Laboratory of the “Engineering and Technical Center” Branch

The physical and chemical indices of natural gas supplied to Armenia are determined by specialists of “National Body for Standardization and Metrology” CJSC at the accredited testing laboratory of the “Engineering and Technical Center” branch of CJSC “Gazprom Armenia” called “Laboratory for Measurement of Physical and Chemical Environmental Parameters”.

Each day, the laboratory carries out corresponding measurements to determine the lower heating value, composition, and density of natural gas.

On a periodic basis, the testing laboratory determines the mass concentration of hydrogen sulfide and mercaptan sulfur, as well as the mass concentration of mechanical impurities in the natural gas.

For conducting these tests and measurements each day, at least from two points of the gas‑transmission system are taken the samples, which are sent to the laboratory. At this facility, specialists determine the physicochemical parameters and composition of natural gas using gas chromatography on a Chromatek Crystal 5000.1 gas chromatograph.

The testing laboratory called “Laboratory for Measurement of Physical and Chemical Environmental Parameters” of the “Engineering and Technical Center” branch appears to be the only in Armenia and accredited in compliance with the standards GOST ISO/IEC 17025–2019.

This standard envisages periodic evaluation of the testing laboratory by the state non-profit organization (NCO) “National Accreditation Body” under the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Armenia.

In March of the current year, an additional periodic evaluation of the Testing Laboratory “Laboratory for Measurement of Physical and Chemical Parameters of the Environment” of the “Engineering and Technical Center” branch was conducted, following which it was confirmed that the laboratory complies with the requirements of the GOST ISO/IEC 17025–2019 standard.
