Comprehensive diagnostics — an important component in ensuring reliable and uninterrupted gas supply
Comprehensive diagnostics of technical condition of the underground gas pipelines, gas distribution stations (GDS) and other engineering units of gas supply system is an important component in ensuring reliable, uninterrupted gas supply to consumers, operation and maintenance of gas transmission and distribution system facilities.
Diagnostics works are carried out in accordance with the approved schedules both by the Diagnostic Survey Service of the Engineering Center Branch and by the specialists of the Gasification and Gas supply Branches (GGB) of Gazprom Armenia CJSC.
The functions of the Diagnostic Survey Service also include field research (engineering and geophysical surveys) for the design of electrochemical protection systems, engineering and geodetic works necessary for the repair of existing or construction of new gas pipelines and GDS, training of GGB employees involved in diagnostics.
According to the Head of the Diagnostic Survey Service Gevorg Gevorgyan, within the framework of the schedule approved for the current year, a comprehensive inspection and diagnostics of underground gas pipelines of the gas transmission system and gas distribution network with a total length of more than 335 km, technical devices and technological equipment at 15 GDS are planned.
As of 01 June 2024, the specialists of the Diagnostic Survey Service have already performed comprehensive diagnostics of about 65 km of gas pipelines and 5 GDS.
«Inspection and diagnostics of the technical condition of gas pipelines and other gas supply system facilities play an important role, since these works allow identifying timely the defects and problems and make decisions on further repair or replacement of gas pipeline sections or equipment. The Diagnostic Survey Service is equipped with all the necessary devices and tools, and the most modern ones, with the help of which our specialists can accurately and precisely record problems and defects. Technical reports based on the collected data are then transferred to the operating organizations, which subsequently take appropriate measures to eliminate the problems,» says the Head of the Diagnostic Survey Service.
