Employees of Gazprom Armenia donated more than 500 books to the Russian House in Armenia

More than 500 new Russian-language books were collected for educational centers within the framework of the action initiated by the employees of Gazprom Armenia. The initiative was dedicated to the birthday of the great Armenian writer Hovhannes Tumanyan on February 19, which is celebrated in Armenia as a Book Giving Day.

The books are intended for school-aged children and are of various genres: fiction, adventure, educational literature, fairy tales and children's encyclopedias.

This year, the books collected by the employees of the Company were handed over to the Russian Center of Science and Culture in Yerevan (Russian House in Armenia).

As the coordinator of Russian language projects and educational programs of the Russian House in Armenia Aygul Shamsutdinova noted: «Today is a real holiday. We received a large number of books, and this initiative is very important, because we work with educational centers and we know how urgent the problem of literature is, there is a real need for books. Every year, the Russian House in Armenia provides books to educational institutions, and it is very pleasant that today Gazprom Armenia supports us in this matter and these wonderful books will replenish various libraries».

According to Yelena Shuvayeva, the coordinator of the press service of the Russian House in Armenia, the books will be handed over to the branch of the Russian House in Gyumri, the contact centers in Vanadzor, Kapan and Ijevan, and the Ijevan center will provide the books to the community libraries of the Tavush region.

On the initiative of the Russian House in Armenia, some of the books were donated to the Museum of Friendship between the Armenian and Russian Peoples in Abovyan city.

It was symbolic that the opening ceremony of the library took place in the museum on February 20 and the first visitors and readers of the library were pupils of Abovyan school No. 7. The children showed great interest in the books and organized a small-improvised performance, reciting their favorite poems in Russian and Armenian languages.
