H. Tadevosyan. Armenia will be able to save about 30 million cubic meters of gas per year due to repair work on the main gas transmission pipeline near the Armenian-Azerbaijani border. The Chairman of the Management Committee — General Director of CJSC Gazprom Armenia H. Tadevosyan stated this in his conversation with Sputnik Armenia agency.
The 15-kilometer border section of the Krasny Most-Sevkar-Berd gas pipeline of the North Caucasus-Transcaucasus main gas transmission pipeline was built in 1992 and since its commissioning it has not been possible to carry out necessary diagnostics, operation and maintenance of this section of the main transmission pipeline for about 27 years. In the first half of 2020 repair and restoration work was carried out on the above-mentioned section of the gas pipeline.
“We began to feel the effect of the renovation since June, when the work was completed. We save 2–3 million cubic meters of gas per month, the annual result is about 30 million," H. Tadevosyan noted.
According to the Chairman of the Management Committee — General Director of CJSC Gazprom Armenia in general the main gas transmission pipelines of Armenia are significantly worn out, about 40% of the gas transmission system has a service life of more than 30 years. In the near future the repair of gas pipelines will continue in other directions, including in the north-east of the country on the branch to the border town of Berd, as well as in the south in Goris region and in a number of other directions.
As H. Tadevosyan noted, at present gas losses are about 5.7% in the system. As a result of the planned works, the level of losses should decrease to 3.9% by 2025 and by 2030 — to 3.0%.
